Tell us your proposal story!

“Max proposed in their backyard under the pergola, surrounded by their Saint Bernard dogs, Lucy and Lenny, with signs asking, “Will you marry our Dad?” Under the stars, the proposal was a complete surprise, with Max’s sister and Sydney’s best friend and husband secretly there to capture the special moment on video.”

Which Evie Young gown did you fall in love with? & What was your experience like?

“I fell in love with SINATRA for its two-piece design, statement-making bridal look, and beautiful liquid satin fabric. I also loved being able to customise the straps to suit my style.

I found my dress at Pure Bridal in Ames, Iowa, with the lovely owner, Rita. It was my second visit, and I came alone. Nothing had felt like “the one” until Rita went to the back and pulled out three dresses, including SINATRA. It looked a little crazy on the hanger, but the moment I put it on, it screamed “BRIDE” and felt completely like me. It was magical! My matron of honour came back with me the following week to give her blessing, and she fell in love with it too.”

Where did you get married? Tell us about the location, and style of your wedding!

“We got married at The Monroe in West Des Moines, Iowa, with a timeless, romantic and simple style featuring black, white and cream tones. It was everything I had dreamed of.”

What was your favourite moment from the big day?

“My favourite moment was opening the doors and walking down the aisle. It felt like a fairytale. I also loved looking around and seeing all the people who showed up for us on one of the biggest days of our lives. And, of course, seeing myself all dressed up in the mirror before the ceremony was a special moment too!”

What advice would you share with future Evie brides?

“Buy the dress that is comfortable, fits YOUR body. You should feel beautiful and still like yourself. It’s not just an average day, you deserve to feel your best. Try on several dresses, have an open mind!”
