Bárbara and René’s celebrated their wedding day in Casa dos Arcos in Boavista – a charming centenary house in the heart of Porto. Bárbara looked elegant in our Lucie gown, dotted in pearls.
Tell us your proposal story!
Which Evie Young gown did you fall in love with? & What was your experience like?
“I fell in love with LUCIE and its beautiful blend of classic and modern style. I love pearls and never imagined it was possible to have so many on one dress while still looking so classy. LUCIE does exactly that!
I started my dress search too early, which almost ruined the experience. I saw so many dresses online and tried on too many in stores. Finding a dress was much more difficult than I expected, and after trying on so many, I no longer believed I would have that “the one” feeling everyone talked about. During the Black Friday Sale in 2025, I visited Vanity Bridal in Berlin and tried on a few gowns, including NINA. But LUCIE won my heart. I had been convinced I would simply choose the best dress out of all the ones I’d tried, but when I put LUCIE on, I felt so good. It was the one!”
Where did you get married? Tell us about the location, and style of your wedding!
“We got married in “Casa dos Arcos” in Boavista, Porto. In Portugal it’s easy to have big weddings because 1) everyone has big families and 2) it’s just the way it’s always have been. But for us, especially speaking about an international wedding, we wanted to make the language barrier as small as possible, and this would also mean to have a cosy wedding. Thus we looked for venues which would fit around 80 guests. We had a relaxed wedding, modern, classy. My husband was like a James Bond and I love that our looks matched so good, even though both were not aware what the other would be wearing. We did our first look in the ruins of the beautiful hotel NEYA PORTO and did a photo shooting on the beach promenade.”
What was your favourite moment from the big day?
“My favourite part of the day was falling in love with my husband all over again. The way we connected, the love surrounding us from our friends and family, and the feeling of being so in sync made the day unforgettable.”
What advice would you share with future Evie brides?
“I would advice to not look at gowns online because:
1) dresses look differently on different bodies;
2) stores do not have all gowns and you may not even find a store that has a particular model;
3) be true to you – if needed go to fittings alone, because at the end one must feel comfortable, sexy, powerful.”
