University sweethearts Jessica and Jordan said their ‘I dos’ in a beautiful, historic building in their hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Her dream dress was GIA, which she found to be the perfect blend of modern and classic. How did you meet? Tell us your proposal story!
“Unfortunately, our meeting wasn’t a very exciting story! We met through mutual friends in university.” That sounds like a beautiful meet-cute to us, Jessica! So many of the best rom-coms start in university. But perhaps the most special part about a meeting like this is getting to grow together and share so many special life-events together in such a transient period of life.
Jordan proposed to Jessica in Capri, Italy. “We had planned a vacation to Italy, and Jordan was able to keep the proposal a secret. He waited until halfway through the trip to propose in the most beautiful place we visited – on the top of Mount Solaro on the island of Capri!”
Which Evie Young gown did you fall in love with? & What was your experience like?
“I fell in love with the GIA gown!
I had made a trip to Toronto to find my dress with my mother and my sister. One of our stops was a beautiful boutique called Oh Happy Brides that provide Evie Young dresses. I even went on a weekend with a trunk show, as Evie Young was the top designer I had my eye on for dresses! I tried on so many, but GIA stood out the most. The high slit, the right amount of sparkle, the detachable skirt. It had a glamorous, Old Hollywood feel with a little bit of spice
I loved the fact it had a detachable skirt that provided elegance for the ceremony, but I was able to remove it and have a second look but still have the same dress for the reception. The dress was so easy to move in and I loved the flair of the sexy slit. The sparkle on the corset just added a little detail without overpowering the rest of the gown.
I fell in love with this dress and danced the night away in it!”

Where did you get married? Tell us about the location, and style of your wedding!
“We got married in our small hometown Thunder Bay, Ontario. We were married at an Event Space called The Chanterelle. It is an old, rustic building built in 1885 and has been restored into an event space. It has beautiful, original brick walls with natural light and upscaled with modern bars and crystal chandeliers. We were hoping for a classic, elegant and modern wedding.”
What was your favourite moment from the big day?
“My favourite moment from the day was the start of the ceremony. My grandmother, at age 100, was able to walk down and be part of our ceremony. We also did not do a first look, and I loved seeing Jordan’s reaction as I walked down the aisle.”
What advice would you share with future Evie brides?
“Have fun with dress shopping! Find the dress that suits you best and you feel most comofrtable in. Also, don’t stress so much with wedding planning leading up to your big day, it all comes together and ends up being the best day ever!”
