Nailing the Nude Trend

The beauty of the nude trend needs to be seen on the skin to be believed.

You’ve heard the expression ‘never judge a book by its cover,’ well here at Madi Lane HQ we’re crafting our own idiom that reads a little something like: ‘never judge a dress by its hanger.’

Of course all gowns come to life on the body but nude gowns rely on their canvas of skin to really shine. That’s why it is important to keep an open mind, which we know most Madi brides do anyway, but the beauty of the nude trend needs to be seen on the skin to be believed.

Most of these gowns come in either a white or an ivory option so if you think you love the look in a magazine but aren’t so convinced of your own ability to pull it off, we suggest trying the more traditional option first. Now that you’ve gotten you’re feet wet and decided you love the fit and feel of the gown, it might be time to try a more daring combination. Cue the nude option!

Starting with a fully nude gown is actually the easiest way to familiarze yourself with the trend. A nude gown from head to toe, or hollow to hem – as we say in the bridal industry, is a way to merely suggest the revelation of skin. The greatest advantage to rocking the nude option is the showcasing of ivory lace, which this colour combo does better than any other and creates the illusion of beautiful lace on bare skin. Needless to say, this is more convincing in a fitted silhouette. Look to gowns like our beauty Storm to effectively execute the fully nude look.

For Madi brides wanting to maintain an element of tradition the half nude option might be a better choice. These gowns are characterized by a nude, often slightly sheer bodice and opaque skirt. Our Evie gown is a fantastic example of this incredible trend and is benefitted by her nude, cleverly engineered top… On the hanger she appears quite transparent but on the body it becomes apparent that she actually leaves a lot more to the imagination than once thought, but it is her nude tulle backing that gives the tattooed lace effect, which is a crucial element in pulling off this style.

You’ll be surprised at how easily the nude tulle blends with a plethora of skin tones but if you’re concerned about blending, we recommend a talking to your make-up artist about attending to your décolletage or light spray tan.
